Laos's October festival: Boun Ok Phansa
The end of Buddhist Lent. In the morning, offerings at the temples; in the evening, candlelit processions and small decorated floats set adrift on the river. The next day, Luang Prabang parades its boats of light before launching them, and Vientiane races its longboats on the Mekong. Near Vientiane, people watch for the naga fireballs over the river.
- Book Luang Prabang or Vientiane for those two nights.
